Texas A&M football has now landed its second commitment in as many days. On Wednesday afternoon, the Aggies picked up the commitment of major target TJ Shanahan. Shanahan has been connected to the Aggies for a while now, and they were expected to be the leader for him over the past couple months.

Shanahan is a 6’4, 310-pound offensive lineman from Westlake High School in Austin, TX. The four-star lineman currently ranks as the No. 150 prospect in the nation according to the 247sports composite. Shanahan is slotted as the sixth best interior offensive lineman in the country and the 28th ranked player in Texas.

Shanahan now comes in as the Aggies’ sixth-highest rated commit in the class. The interior lineman comes in as the groups’ highest rated of his position in the Aggies’ 2023 class and also claims the spot as the second-highest rated offensive lineman committed to A&M, right behind four-star tackle Chase Bisontis.

With the nasty (in a good way) lineman now in the mix, the Aggies have shot up 15 spots to No. 24 in the 247sports team recruiting rankings for 2023. Jimbo Fisher is clearly stressing quality over quantity with this class, having just 11 commitments so far, yet also having a top-25 class.

What makes their class so highly ranked with so little amount of recruits is that the players they are getting are high-quality prospects. Eight of their 11 commitments are rated as four-stars and up. They also rank sixth in the country in average player rating with a 92.27.

There seems to be a lot more steam picking up for the Aggies very quickly. The visitor list for the coming weeks is reportedly becoming very impressive, and it seems another commitment could be coming very soon, if Twitter has any say in it.

This is a target that the Aggies have been grinding at for a while, and now he gives his pledge to Texas A&M. Now that Bravion Rogers is back in the fold, and they’ve also added Shanahan, it will be interesting to see if Fisher has anything more up his sleeve on the recruiting trail sooner rather than later.
