Running game

Although the offensive line did not give up a sack against SHSU, they struggled to open running lanes for Devon Achane. The Bearkats were aggressive up front and succeeded by stopping the run, making A&M one dimensional for most of the game. The Aggies only rushed for 25 yards in the first half.  It wasn’t until the second half that Achane was able to break for a 12-yard run.

The offensive line was switching players out along the line all game. The offensive line needs to get in sync and be ready for blitzing and different looks from the defense. They need to prove they can generate a power run game against Appalachian State. With Bryce Foster likely to miss his second straight game, the OL will have to be ready to execute this Saturday.

The fans need to see Achane breaking free up the middle and be able to put his speed on display before they can have confidence in the run game. The coaching staff needs to make the right adjustments and prepare the team better for the Mountaineers. Lets hope it was a one game fluke and not season long problem, seeing improvement in Week 2.
