Texas A&M football opened the half with the ball, but went three and out after a false start penalty on third and four moved them back. This was only the second scoreless drive of the night for the Aggies. The ensuing booming punt from Nik Constantinou drove the Bulldogs all the way back to their own 15, where they would take control. On the first play from scrimmage, though, freshman RB Seth Davis eluded several Aggie tacklers on a long, winding run for 46 yards. A Mike Wright pass on first fell incomplete, and another handoff to Davis went for no gain on second, though, bringing up third and 10. That quickly turned to third and 15 due to the crowd noise, and the defense was ready to pin their ears back. Pin their ears back they did, as a hit delivered to Wright jarred the ball loose, and Shemar Stewart picked it up and returned it for a touchdown to move the Aggies’ advantage to 41-10.

To State’s credit, they responded well. They drove the ball down the field again, taking advantage of some penalties, and even completed a long pass down the sideline. Directly after that pass, though, Chris Parson threw a fade route over the head of his receiver, and the Aggies notched yet another interception, this time at the hands of Tyreek Chappell.

The Aggies took over at their 20. A Rueben Owens carry got about five, and State was called for PI on the following play, moving the Aggies up to just behind midfield. A false start then moved them back five, and a short carry by Owens and batted down pass brought up 3rd and 13. Henderson had time in the pocket, and found Ainias down the sideline to convert the long distance. It took four straight runs to convert the next first down, but a PI on the very next play moved the Aggies down into the red zone with another first. A handoff to Owens didn’t avail much on first down, but Henderson threaded the needle to Jahdae Walker for a touchdown on the very next play to make the score 48-10.

The Bulldogs took over once more and moved the ball out to about midfield before the quarter drew to a close.
