Former Texas A&M football star Christian Kirk was recently released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and now the erstwhile Aggie is looking toward his new home.
Kirk had his best season of his NFL career in 2022, where he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time as a pro. With injuries derailing his time with the Jaguars, the franchise made the tough choice to finally move on from Kirk.
After stints with Arizona and Jacksonville, Kirk will look to his third professional team in what will be his eighth season in the NFL. Possible destinations for Kirk could be another weapon for a playoff contender, and there are three teams that should go after Kirk in the offseason.
3 Best potential destinations for Kirk
3. Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers already have a gem on their hands with Ladd McConkey, and adding a veteran like Kirk could elevate the Chargers to new heights.
With Joshua Palmer showing great chemistry with Justin Herbert over the years, he could still be a valuable asset, but Kirk brings Herbert some veteran leadership to help lead the Chargers to another playoff berth.
2. Houston Texans
It was revealed that Tank Dell is likely to miss a significant portion of the 2025 season after still recovering from his brutal ACL injury.
In this time, the Texans still have Stefon Diggs, John Metchie III and Xavier Hutchinson for depth. With Houston's receiving corps still an unknown, Kirk would be a valuable, guaranteed piece to what's still a playoff contending team.
This gives C.J. Stroud another veteran to work with while still working well with Diggs and Dalton Schultz.
1. Dallas Cowboys
Following a laughable season in 2024, the 2025 NFL Draft has the Dallas Cowboys looking at multiple options. Their first pick might be offensive lineman to replace future Hall of Fame right guard, Zach Martin. It also could mean the return of Ashton Jeanty to North Texas.
Either way, the Cowboys need to get more depth around CeeDee Lamb. With Brandin Cooks in the latter part of his career, he could still make noise, but Dak Prescott would be set with a three-wideout set with Lamb, Cooks and Kirk.
The debut season of Brian Schottenheimer is still up in the air, but on the field, the Cowboys have a more relevant chance if Jerry Jones pulls the trigger in the offseason for Kirk.
