Texas A&M football has been tearing things up in the 2027 cycle when it comes to the recruiting trail, and are en route to the top class overall. However, they have yet only one commitment in the following cycle, 2028– and even he was a recent pledge for the maroon and white.
The Aggies are looking to secure an early pledge at the quarterback position, however, which is generally something that they’ve done over the last few years to act as a sort of “pied piper” for the class. Recent reports have had the Aggies trending heavily for Donald Tabron, a highly-rated signal caller out of Michigan, as his commitment draws nearer.
Tabron was recently on campus for the Aggies during a huge official visit weekend, and Texas A&M fans have been hoping for some positive returns from him following that visit. It looks like those hopes are fulfilled, as Tabron recently spoke with some Texas A&M media and had nothing but positive things to say about the trip.
Texas A&M moves to the top of talented QB Donald Tabron’s list ahead of commitment
Tabron is tracking for a five-star rating by the time the class has fully come into their own, and it looks like the Aggies may have the inside track on his recruitment according to this latest quote.

Is that indecision in the “really close to it,” or is it an attempt to hedge ahead of publicly making his decision known? Insiders in the industry have predicted Tabron to land with the Aggies, which would be a huge early win in a cycle where the Aggies will be wanting desperately to build on this massive class they’re assembling in 2027.
Tabron is the complete package as far as quarterbacks go, and the Aggies have done a great job to identify and zero in on him early on. He plays for one of the biggest high schools in the state of Michigan in Cass Technical, and the Aggies are still yet a big player even though they are geographically so far away.
Getting Tabron in the boat early on would be huge for this upcoming class. The Aggies need a player to help recruit other players in the cycle, and it is only an aid for getting top talent when you have such a highly-rated quarterback in the class.
The other piece of things is that many Texas A&M fans feel as though there is no quarterback on campus right now that is national-championship caliber. Marcel Reed is continuing to grow, and Brady Hart has a lot of tools, but fans are not necessarily greatly enthused about his potential.
Jayce Johnson is another question mark, despite his clear physical tools. There’s some rawness there as a passer, so some are not bullish on his development, but there is no question when it comes to Tabron.
This would be a massive win for the Aggies, bottom line. Hopefully Joey Lynch and Mike Elko can get this one across the finish line sooner rather than later.
