5-star quarterback heavily trending towards Texas A&M as predictions flood in

This could be the most important recruit of the upcoming cycle for the Aggies, and they're closing in on a big move.

If there's one question mark going forward for Texas A&M football, it's at the quarterback position. With Marcel Reed heading out the door after this season (barring something very unexpected, I mean), the Aggies will have a quarterback competition this offseason between Brady Hart, Helaman Casuga, and incoming freshman Jayce Johnson.

Though there have been some flashes out of that group (Hart in particular, but if Johnson cleans some stuff up, it could be scary for the rest of the league), but there's no sure thing waiting in the wings. That in mind, many Aggie fans are hoping for another entrant into the mix to truly feel good about where they are at the position.

Some are counting on Mike Elko and company to work the portal, but every college football fan knows that getting a top-shelf passer from the transfer ranks is not only far from a sure thing, it's a high level of risk with the amount of resources you have to end up committing. Savvy fans, however, have their eyes on the upcoming cycle for the Aggies, and a prospect that has begun to trend pretty heavily towards the maroon and white.

Texas A&M receives yet another prediction to steal 5-star passer Donald Tabron away from Michigan

The Aggies have received another prediction to land a five-star quarterback in Donald Tabron II out of Cass Technical in Michigan. He's a top-30 player in the upcoming cycle, comfortably within five-star range, and that's reflected by his offer list— Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State are all doing what they can to land his commitment.

As things stand right now, though, the Aggies seem to be the overwhelming favorite. Predictions can be pretty fluid, especially when we're talking about stuff that's this far out, but the Aggies have notched four forecasts to land the uber-talented Tabron over the aforementioned super powers that are trying to dissuade the maroon momentum.

The latest came today from Rivals' Sam Speigelman, joining Steve Wiltfong in predicting that Tabron eventually commits to the Aggies rather than a more local program— which would be quite the win for this Texas A&M program. Tabron is the third-ranked quarterback in the class, only behind Jayden Wade of IMG (a Georgia commit) and Christopher Vargas out of Massachusetts.

The Aggies still have a ways to go before this is all resolved, as there is no set commitment date for Tabron, but this would be a massive early domino to fall for the maroon and white if it comes to pass. QBs have a sort of "pied piper" effect on classes a lot of the time, so getting a guy like this in the boat would be absolutely huge for the Aggies' prospects in 2028 and beyond.
