This is an extremely welcome development for Texas A&M football, as Arrington is their highest-rated commitment, and several other schools— Oregon and Penn State among them— were working hard to flip him. There were even some rumors that Arrington could visit Happy Valley or Autzen, but Mike Elko and company have done enough to get this one shut down.
With some of the other top-level talent that the Aggies have in the boat as pledges, this is setting Texas A&M up for one of the best defensive back classes in the nation. Arrington, along with Vic Singleton— another top-50 player— and Cameron Hamiel make up quite the group of DBs: one that will be shutting down opposing offenses in College Station for years yet to come.
5-star CB Brandon Arrington shuts down recruitment, will sign with Texas A&M football despite flip rumors
This represents a massive win for Texas A&M football, as much as when they originally landed Arrington in the first place. Mike Elko and company have proven time and time again that they can stand in the gap in these big time recruiting battles and hold their own against power programs like Oregon and others, and this is yet another data point supporting that notion.
Texas A&M is likely done for the 2026 class unless some former targets, now committed elsewhere, begin to crop back up on campus for gameday visits. That kind of eventuality is certainly not out of the question, especially if the year goes as many Aggie fans expect it to.
Whatever else happens, though, it's a move in the right direction to get this lockdown corner locked in with the Aggies. He'll be a huge piece for A&M going forward and key to this defense in the future of the Mike Elko era.
