Aggies add one of greatest names in 2026 cycle to continue filling out LB class

The Aggies outlasted Texas, Michigan, and Notre Dame for this commitment.

Texas A&M may have missed out on the first announcement of the day, but they just picked up a major piece in Port Arthur linebacker Tank King. King commits to the Aggies over Texas, Michigan, and Notre Dame, boasting an offer list that far outstrips his three-star ranking by most services.

King has long been a priority for the Aggies, who have hosted him innumerable times in College Station. Marcus Freeman and the Irish have been charging hard to try to dissuade King from the A&M commitment that seemed inevitable for a while, but they were unable to shake him and he has made his decision public today.

King becomes the third linebacker commitment of the class for the Aggies, joining DaQuives Beck of Carthage, who committed three days ago, and Storm Miller of Ohio. Beck is already a top-200 player, but I wouldn't be surprised to see King join him, given his athletic qualities and productivity, by the end of his senior season.

The Aggies, now boasting three backers in the 2026 cycle, will look to finish out with one more as they eye the decision of Tamarion Watkins of Rock Hill, South Carolina. Watkins will decide between the Aggies and his home state Gamecocks on July 14.

Whether or not they get Watkins, King caps off an exciting linebacker class. He and Miller are heavy-hitters, the kind you need in SEC ball, even though King's measurables would make him seem slightly undersized.

Of course, the Aggies have had significant success with a linebacker that could seem undersized in Taurean York, who was just named a first-team preseason all-American, and is listed as a top-50 player in the sport by Pro Football Focus. That in mind, I wouldn't be surprised in the least if King's collegiate career outstrips his high school ranking significantly.

This will likely be the only decision in favor of the Aggies today, but A&M fans are eyeing the commitment of five-star Buford, GA DL Bryce Perry-Wright tomorrow. The Ags are eyeing two big time commitments from the defensive front in two days— one is now down, and there's one to go.
