Texas A&M football has had several wins in the last few days— and not just their second half lockdown defense that ran Florida out of the building.
Just hours before the showdown with the Gators, Texas A&M picked up a verbal commitment from four-star defensive tackle Elijah Patmon, a class of 2027 recruit. The 6-foot-4 DT from the Peach State is taking his talents to Mike Elko, instead of staying in-state with Kirby Smart's Bulldogs. Now, Texas A&M is in prime position to snag one of the best in the 2027 class.
John Meredith III is a five-star cornerback out of Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. Rivals has the Aggies in excellent position with over a 97 percent chance for the five-star to fall into the hands of Elko.
Texas A&M set for five-star cornerback in 2027 to put pen to paper
Meredith III has been known to be the best cornerback in the nation, with well over 20 offers at the table. He's been in College Station with regularity, including this past weekend against the Gators— and you have to think that he loved what Texas A&M was putting on display on the defensive side against Florida.
He's also been highly complimentary of the Aggies whenever he's spoken about them. While this isn't official, when you consider how often he's been to campus, Aggies everywhere should be pumped.
Meredith III has amazing quickness closing in on receivers and poses a threat already with his long arms. He's going to be a beast in zone coverage with just his speed alone. He's a perfect cornerback for today's era, and now, we could see him announce for the Aggies any day now.
Of course, with any high-leverage recruitment like this, there will be a battle until pen meets paper. Even if Meredith commits tomorrow, he'll still receiver the full-court press from other programs— but with what A&M is building, it would be hard to shake him.
