Anto Saka's name is one that every Aggie fan has heard when insiders have been discussing which transfer portal players have a chance to break out in this upcoming season. The defensive end from Northwestern has a reputation as an athletic beast, and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who follows the Aggies closely who doesn't expect a big year out of him.
Not only that, but Saka himself expects a big year out of this Aggie team. Mike Elko and company have done an expert job of assembling this roster, and they are looking to make another run at the College Football Playoff— only, this time, they're hoping to actually win a game or two.
Saka is so confident in what they've done and the talent they've brought together that he's unafraid to speak publicly about just how high he is on the Aggies' chances. In his most recent comments, he made a pledge that will either charge Aggie fans up or blow up right in their faces.

Now, it should be said that we are right in the midst of the piece of the year colloquially known as "talking season," and a quote like this would tend to epitomize that. However, as an Aggie fan, you have to love hearing this from a guy who is going to be leading the defense into battle week after week.
Saka is the type of guy who is going to back this talk up on the field, even if some other players on the team fall a little bit short. The former Northwestern defensive end plays with an intensity uncommon to the game, and his ferocity and increased skill under the Aggies' coaching could lead him to become another Texas A&M first-round pick under Mike Elko.
This is the mentality that this program needs to have, in any case. For far too long, the Aggies have not been aiming where the caliber of their program suggests they should be— and they've failed to reach the heights they're capable of as a consequence. Saka is a symbol of the changed culture that Elko has brought— one that is not about talk, but about results.
It will be difficult to get to those results in the SEC, of course, and even more so now that this league has teams playing nine conference games. But Elko and this team are not afraid of the challenge, and if Saka's words are anything to go by, they're even embracing it.
