The new AP Poll is here for college basketball and— unbelievably— Texas A&M is still not within the top 25 of the rankings. The Aggies made the cut in the Coaches' Poll, but the AP Voters did not have the Ags in high enough estimation to put them among the aggregate top 25 in America.
With all that Bucky McMillan and Texas A&M basketball have accomplished this year, this is a complete travesty. The Aggies are currently 17-4 with 3 Quad 1 wins, all of which fall within the criteria for a "Quad 1A" victory. They just blew out the Georgia Bulldogs worse than anyone has this year in Athens— yes, that includes games against Tennessee, Arkansas, and Auburn— and are one of the hottest teams in the entire nation at this point.
Texas A&M embarrassingly left out of AP Top 25 once again
Last week, it was a discussion as to whether Texas A&M may make it in that top 25 field. After this past weekend's result, it seemed like all but a complete certainty that they would do so— and yet, we are still here collectively left holding the bag.
Texas A&M fans know that they are no friend to apparently any selection committee— no matter the sport or the year, the Aggies seem to consistently get a raw deal when it's left in the hands of humans. This is yet one more data point that supports the hypothesis that, when it's left to a vote, the Aggies will always get less than they deserve.
This is an Aggie basketball team, however, that has demonstrated thus far that they are ready to go out and take what's theirs. The next opportunity for them to do so will be this Wednesday, when they take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. The Tide, despite their reinforcements from the G-League, have been teetering as of late, and so the Aggies will have to take full advantage if they hope to really wake the nation up— apparently, a lot of people are still sleeping.
