Texas A&M fans have long been desiring to see star Aggie pass rusher Myles Garrett shake off the surly bonds of the Cleveland Browns and head to a destination where he can see his talents fully realized. After Garrett requested a trade this previous offseason, before eventually negotiating a massive contract, most Aggie fans thought that would not happen.
When Garrett set the single-season sack record last year, it seemed even less possible that Cleveland would be willing to part with their best player. That intuition has been turned on its head, however, as Ian Rapoport is reporting that Cleveland is in the midst of finalizing a trade of Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and more draft compensation.

This is the very definition of a blockbuster trade. The two-time defensive player of the year in Garrett is heading out to the Rams as LA attempts one final Super Bowl run with Matthew Stafford at quarterback, with Myles as the final big piece for them to be able to compete.
Texas A&M star pass rusher Myles Garrett finally gets his Super Bowl shot
Aggie fans had been becoming increasingly convinced that there was no way Myles would be able to make it to a championship while donning Cleveland’s colors. There was a time when the Browns looked like they were building a team that could contend, but all of that fell apart very quickly a couple of years ago and they were back to their losing ways.
None of that detracted from just how dominant Myles was on the field, however. There’s only so much you can do as a defensive end, but he did everything possible while in Cleveland to deliver them wins.
Now, though, he’s headed to a far better situation than he was in previously. The Rams have been in playoff contention each of the last few years, even after many thought their window was closing after what a lot of fans considered a one-and-done chance for them with Matthew Stafford.
It looks like that window is a little bit longer than anyone anticipated, as they are gearing up for this final run with Stafford at quarterback. Myles will be able to anchor the LA defense opposite a nasty passing attack with Stafford and Puka Nacua, making them immediately one of the most complete teams in the league.
For Texas A&M fans, it will be a relief to finally be able to see Myles fully unleashed on the biggest stage. The former no. 1 overall pick has accomplished everything he could without getting a ring— winning two DPOY awards, setting records that no one ever thought could be broken— and now, he finally gets a chance to make it to the biggest stage in the sport.
This is a great piece of news for everyone but Cleveland fans, who have once again wasted their time with one of the sports’ brightest stars. Hopefully, a guy like KC Concepcion can help them flip their fortunes, but he will have to do it without the help of Garrett.
