Texas A&M receiver KC Concepcion is off the board officially, as the Cleveland Browns selected the electric Aggie pass catcher with the 24th pick in the NFL Draft. While KC is certainly deserving of a first-round selection, many Aggie fans don't feel like KC deserves to be sent to Cleveland, of all places.
Aggie fans have followed the Browns more closely than many might think over the past decade and a half— ever since the Browns picked up Johnny Manziel in 2013, to when they picked up Myles Garrett in 2017, the Aggies have watched some of their most beloved players head to the Browns over the past few years.
This is not exactly a soft landing spot for KC, given the quarterback situation up in Cleveland. Everyone knows about Shedeur's struggles this last year, but it's overall a dysfunctional environment on the offensive side of the ball, so not the spot you would want to draw up for a guy like KC.
Texas A&M fans hope KC Concepcion can help Myles Garrett escape irrelevance in Cleveland
Myles Garrett has been one of the best defensive players in the NFL for several years now, but because of the ineptitude of the Cleveland Browns as a franchise, he's been underappreciated for how good of a player he actually is. Maybe adding a guy like KC will help the Browns get out of the basement of the league, but there is certainly some trepidation on the part of Texas A&M fans about whether that can actually happen.
KC can create in many ways, but the team has to actually get him the ball first. They can hand it off to him, and he'll no doubt serve as an effective punt returner, but the traditional passing game isn't really all that electric up in Cleveland.
With the talent that Concepcion has, he will make the most of this opportunity. It's cool to see two Aggies together on a professional team like this, but the A&M faithful would love to see them compete for championships— and the Browns aren't set up to do that at the moment.
