It's up to Mike Elko to make magic happen.

The Brian Kelly at LSU is over. But if we're going to be honest, it was rocky from the beginning anyway.

This was the same Kelly who faked a Southern accent when introducing himself to the LSU fans. This was the same Kelly who was known for losing Week 1 and pounding his fist against the table during press conferences. While it's fair to say that LSU now has to worry about Oklahoma and Texas, the LSU standard is much higher, which is exactly why five-star athlete Lamar Brown should reconsider his decision to commit to LSU.

Brown is one of the best in the 2026 class, and he was "50-50" on A&M and LSU before he finally decided on LSU. Texas A&M is in prime position to steal him away, and it's so easy to see why.

Kelly firing means five-star athlete Lamar Brown should flip to Texas A&M

Five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington has been a source of help for Mike Elko, as he called for Brown at the beginning of the LSU week to convince him that Texas A&M is where Brown should go.

Things have only gotten better since then, as LSU looks lost and Texas A&M looks like a national championship contender.

Brown was recruited by Kelly, and it's important for athletes to stick with the coaches that recruited them. LSU is still one of the standards of college football, even with their coaching crisis right now, but a five-star athlete like Brown should be on a contending team, and right now, that's not LSU.

This could be a golden opportunity for Mike Elko to do some neat work here, as his five-star already got him started on that department. Elko is clearly building the blue-collar team that R.C. Slocum once had, and that, folks, is something special.
