Texas A&M is coming off of a pretty emphatic loss to the Florida Gators from this past Saturday. Todd Golden's team utilized their size and dominance on the boards to great effect against the Aggies, deterring drives and pulling down rebounds all night in Reed Arena.
The result wasn't all that surprising, but many were taken aback by the way that the Gators conducted themselves in the postgame. Assistant coaches came charging at Aggie players, Golden himself reportedly cursed out A&M players and fans, and the overall aggression from the visitors was palpable, if a bit confusing.
Asked about the antics in his press conference today, Bucky offered not only some good perspective, but a little bit of shade— if you watch to the end of his answer.
Texas A&M head man Bucky McMillan offers perspective on Florida's postgame altercation with A&M
Here's what Bucky had to say:
Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan asked about the end of the game vs. Florida, and if there’s been any talks with the SEC office: “I’m really glad when we have teams that won national championships and are first place in the league that if they get a win, they’re so freaking happy.” pic.twitter.com/gpcuGtuMqw

"I didn't see much of it... Great, I'm really glad when we have teams that have won national championships and are first place in the league that, if they get a win, they're so freakin' happy. That means something. If it's like, man, [there's] got to be a lot of talk, a lot of jawing, that meant so much, because they value that we're pretty good, right? So, the more that goes on, the more I'm like, good, we're getting there. That means something to them. So I like that, personally."Bucky McMillan
Talk about perspective. The Gators were fired up because they were excited to beat a team they recognized was really good— and that means that Bucky Ball has already brought this program a long way.
In other words, Todd Golden's team doesn't have this kind of reaction if this was just another game to them. No, this shows that there was a certain catharsis for them, likely caused by how nervous/antsy they were about the outcome. The Aggies are already being recognized as a legitimate threat to even elite teams, which reflects quite well on the job that Bucky has already done in Aggieland.
