It wasn't in the cards for Maryland basketball to be good this season, but former Texas A&M head coach Buzz Williams has taken that to a whole new level.
With Bucky McMillan making Texas A&M fans forget all about Buzz, it's tough in College Park, Maryland, for now, as Williams has taken the Terps to a new low.
Maryland is now 11-19 (4-15 conference play) with no hopes of going anywhere in the March Madness tournament. But forget about that, as it's almost reminiscent of Jim Mora's famous "playoffs" rant. Buzz managed to make 103-year history in his first season, and it's not good history.
Maryland is having arguably their worst season ever under Buzz Williams

No one saw Maryland anywhere close to anything mid-tier of the Big Ten, but this is as bad as it gets. If you were wondering how 3-point percentage is going in College Park, you probably guessed right.
TeamRankings.com ranks Maryland as 288th in the NCAA in 3-point shooting. As a team, they're shooting 31.7 percent from deep. It'd be just a story if that was the number for an individual player, but this is the whole team.
Buzz's philosophy is not working with Maryland. There are some games where bully ball and paint points are necessary. Michigan bullies their opponents in the paint nearly every game and rebounds like crazy, but Michigan has plenty of reliable deep shooters. Maryland doesn't have anyone to turn to in that department.
In what's now a crowded Big Ten conference with multiple national championship contenders, Buzz is already getting his "Welcome to the Big Ten" moment. We just didn't think it would be this historically bad.
A&M fans already said bye to Buzz when they discovered that he was recruiting kids to Maryland while still under contract at Texas A&M. Fans should be thankful that they have McMillan to look forward to. Buzz left A&M in the dust, and it's almost justice to see what he's going through at Maryland.
