Texas A&M football hosting Purdue TE Max Klare directly after Texas visit; can Aggies steal away a playmaker?

The madness of the transfer portal is officially underway, and Texas A&M football is looking to be a big time player in the transfer ranks. The Ags have already hosted some considerable talent, and they now are in the process of locking some of those players down.

That mission has been an up-and-down one for the Aggies so far, as the Ags have already filled some roster holes, but they have also been the mark for some tomfoolery at the hands of Ole Miss. Such is life in this era of college football, though— and you have to think that what goes around will come around as well.

The Aggies have the chance to turn some momentum themselves, as it turns out. According to Ryan Brauninger of Texags, the Aggies are hosting, today, a target at a big time area of need on the roster in Purdue TE Max Klare.

Okay, so what? Well, Klare is coming into College Station right off of a visit to Austin, where the Longhorns were reportedly trying their hardest to lock him down as a Gunnar Helm replacement kit— and, if you believe the message board chatter, Longhorn fans thought a deal was as good as done.

Yet, Klare exited Austin without committing, and now comes to College Station to see what Mike Elko and company have to offer. Could this one turn into a classic in-state battle between the Longhorns and Aggies?

It's looking that way at the moment. And you have to like that the Ags were able to get him in town for a visit like this at this point in his recruitment. This would be quite the coup if Mike Elko and this Aggie staff were able to pull this off.
