CFB insider's disrespectful ranking is last straw for A&M to finally silence haters

Texas A&M fans are sick and tired of it.

Fans of the Aggies have heard it all -- overhyped, chokers, losers and overrated.

Texas A&M fans already know this. It was nearly 86 years ago when the Aggies won their last national championship. Of course, some of the big names in college football haven't touched a title at all recently, but the Aggies, known for their loud fanbase and tradition, have been constantly looked at as always coming up short. Texas A&M baseball fans know how close they were to getting a championship, but fell two games straight after only being one game away from the trophy.

Following the Coaches Poll, along with the new AP rankings, college football insider Brett McMurphy has the Aggies on a high pedestal for the 2025 season. Now, Aggies fans feel like McMurphy is turning his back on them, following another 'overrated' ranking where he has the Aggies up pretty high.

McMurphy puts A&M as the No. 3 most overrated preseason team in the last decade

Aggies fans aren't surprised to see this. It's just another narrative about the Aggies being too overhyped. Sure, we've seen great individual players come through the Aggie system in the past decade, but it hasn't translated to a College Football Playoff apperance.

For many years, the Aggies got off to a great start, especially in 2016 when they beat Tennessee in a top 10 matchup, but the heart of the SEC just became too much to overcome in the 2010s. In 2020, the Aggies came as close as they ever got to getting in, but they were denied by Notre Dame.

Aggies fans will probably agree with McMurphy on USC. They're supposed to be one of the blue bloods of the sport, and even during their days with Sam Darnold and Caleb Williams, they always came up short.

This is what Mike Elko was hired to do. His job is to instill the spirit back into College Station, and after Texas A&M decided to fully scholarship each sport, this gives Elko the competitive advantage that A&M finally needed.

Fans will disagree with McMurphy's list, but now, it's time for the school to silence the haters and finally put their money where their mouths are.
