With Texas A&M softball recently making headlines as the best team in the land, fans in College Station have been buzzing.
With third-year head coach Trisha Ford's dramatic rise to the top, it goes to show that there's plenty of excitement for Aggie fans this Spring, especially after a No. 1 ranked Aggie baseball team has gone competely dark this season. Now, there's no doubt that injuries have taken its toll on the Aggie baseball team, and conversations around first-year head coach Michael Earley are already starting.
Nonetheless, this ranking for Aggie softball deserves to be recognized as a complete transformation around Ford, but one gaffe from one softball analyst has already caused a media storm around Aggie softball's latest ranking.
Haylie McCleney forgets to mention Aggie softball as potential WCWS team
In one segment on the SEC Network where analysts were mentioning the dominance of the SEC in softball this year, Aggie fans were eagarly quick to mention the gaffe that pro softball player Haylie McCleney made -- not mentioning Texas A&M softball as a serious contender for the Women's College World Series.
Not referencing the #1 team in the country is quite hilarious https://t.co/i7cQJW2Ny0

"The SEC will have six teams in Oklahoma City," McCleney said. "Put a stamp on it. You've got Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, LSU, I could go on and on, South Carolina, why not?"
Of course, McCleney is correct that a boatload of SEC teams are in the running this season. Softball fans know that Oklahoma is the cream of the crop in college softball, and until someone beats them, they are the proven champs.
How about A&M?!

Other prominent members of the Texas A&M media were quick to point out the hypocrisy of McCleney's take.
Yall serious? 😂

This no doubt was a TV broadcast gaffe from McCleney, and a response will be probably made soon by her soon, but Aggie fans are heavy listeners, and they know when something needs to be corrected, they will call out that subject in a heartbeat.
