Counting down Texas A&M's top 50 players: 30-21 see players who need to step up

The next ten players on the Aggies' top 50 see some guys who really need to step up for A&M to have a big year.

Texas A&M's best players on 2025 roster: Fringe starters line players 30-21

We've been counting down Texas A&M football's best 50 players in the lead up to the 2025 season, and with this article, we are now more than halfway through. The Aggies have a loaded and deep roster this year, but the star power is where they've been lacking.

These next ten players contain some names that need to step up in a big way— several guys that have been in the program for some time but haven't quite put the results together that they need to. This is a pivotal year for several on this list, in other words— let's see who needs to take that next leap.

30: Bryce Anderson

Anderson was a heralded recruit coming into Texas A&M, as a big win over LSU and Texas. However, after his first year in the Maroon and White, he hasn't quite been the player that A&M needs him to be. Anderson has the physicality to succeed— we've seen it on display before— but he needs to show that consistently to remain a starter.

29: Rylan Kennedy

Kennedy is a player that insiders have been talking about for a while now, but he has yet to break out. Much like Tyree Johnson, though, he could end up being a late-bloomer who stars as a pass-rush specialist for the Aggies. He could be playing second fiddle to Cashius Howell this year, but I think he'll make an impact.

28: Theo Melin Ohrstrom

The Swede has all the physical tools you need, but he has yet to round into a fully-realized weapon at the TE spot. He's reportedly been focused on blocking this offseason, which was his Achilles Heel last year, so maybe that will make him more effective in 2025.

27: Amari Daniels

Daniels is a dependable player, but he's never quite risen above replacement level as an SEC running back, to my eyes. He's made some big plays for A&M and was an absolute warrior down the stretch in 2024, but I have him third in the running back room for the upcoming year.

26: Dezz Ricks

Ricks got picked on a lot in the last few games, but don't forget that he was supposed to be a true freshman last year. He had reclassified up from the class of 2024, and was still seen by Alabama staff as a stud when he transferred— so don't let those abiding memories of his issues in the bowl make you think that he doesn't have the capability to break out.

25: Marcus Ratcliffe

Another transfer defensive back, Ratcliffe has the physicality that Aggie fans have been wanting to see at the safety position— but much like Anderson, he's got to show it consistently. With the starters at safety in flux, he could be a name that emerges pretty strongly here in the upcoming season.

24: Kolinu'u Faaiu

A late addition to the Aggie roster last year, A&M fans were thanking their lucky stars that the Utah transfer ended up in College Station after Mark Nabou went down for the year early in game one. He more than held his own against some pretty tough defensive lines and will be a great piece for the Aggies in the upcoming year.

23: Mark Nabou

Speaking of Nabou, he should be fully back and ready to go this year. He was one of the most promising pieces on the offensive line in 2023, and was poised to have a great 2024 before the injury. He'll also figure in prominently next season.

22: DJ Hicks

This is a bit of a fideistic prediction, but Hicks is simply too talented to not put him this high. It will be a massive disappointment if he turns out to be just a guy next year, given his elite status as a recruit, but I think he will take the needed steps.

21: Tyler White

There are a lot of jokes you could make, but White is, relative to his position, one of the best on the Aggie roster. Thanks to his work, the average starting field position for A&M opponents was something that always favored the Ags— he's a true weapon at the position.
