Texas A&M fans have already seen the work Mike Elko has done in his first two seasons. He's making magic with top 100 NFL Draft picks year after year, and it's exactly why Texas A&M is about to be the next blue blood of college football.

In case you disagree, college football analyst David Pollack was on On3's Crain and Cone to argue for Texas A&M as either a pretender or a contender. Most fans would obviously say this team is built to win for a long time under Elko.

Pollack didn't just answer, he dropped a take that all Texas A&M fans are going to love to hear.

CFB analyst David Pollack says Texas A&M football will be a contender every year

"Mike Elko is one of the best defensive minds in all of college football. Marcel Reed coming back, Craver coming back, because of that, 100 percent, they're on the contender list. They should be every single year."
David Pollack

Pollack is right here. Marcel Reed has had plenty of experience under his belt at this point. His top receiver from last year, KC Concepcion, is now with the Cleveland Browns. But if Concepcion was a 1A receiver, Mario Craver is clearly a 1B moving up. The only concern is the offensive line, as Mark Nabou will be the only returning face from last season.

With the Big Ten conference taking home the last three national champions, is this also the open window that Elko needs to get over the hump?

Get ready to feel old, Aggie fans. The last time Texas A&M won a conference championship was 1998. In case you need a refresher, Branndon Stewart, Dat Nguyen, Shane Lechler, Dante Hall and Dan Campbell were on that team.

The Aggies have had amazing rosters since then, but everything always had to go perfectly with a little bit of luck in the BCS and even the CFP four-team format era. Last year's matchup against Miami was a bad one for the Aggies, as Reuben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor feasted on the offensive line.

Now, things have to go as perfectly as ever, and there's more room for teams to get a loss out of the way and play strong down the stretch to prove you should belong in the 12-team bracket.
