There's no two ways about it: the Micah Hudson portal debacle was a waste of time for A&M. His pickup was thought of as a huge move for the Aggies; I hailed it as game-changing at the time given the natural talents he displayed during his high school career.
Here we are, though, only a few months afterwards, and Hudson is officially headed back to Texas Tech. After leaving the Aggie football team for what were reportedly off-the-field reasons, Hudson went back into the transfer portal this spring and is departing College Station once more for Lubbock.

That much is true and highly frustrating to Aggie fans. No one wanted to lose the former five-star receiver, as most were confident that he could make an impact for A&M pretty quickly.
But if there is one silver lining, it's the egg on the Tech fans' faces.
Texas Tech fans attempt legendary walkback after Micah Hudson returns from Texas A&M
After Hudson left for A&M, Tech fans were badly hurt. There were inadvisable tweets being fired off left and right by the Red Raider faithful, along with some nasty rumors being propagated about a purported list of "demands" that Hudson made.
Now that he's back in the fold, though, Red Raider fans have to act like none of this ever happened. It's well-summed-up in the below tweets:

Tech fans have clearly been embarrassed about this whole thing, even going as far as to invent a story about Hudson punching Marcel Reed in the face in order to explain why they are accepting Hudson back with open arms. In reality, they don't have a player nearly as talented as him on their team at any spot, and know they can't say no.
A&M, on the other hand, has players as talented or more than Hudson at many spots, and will be alright. Would they have been better if Hudson had stayed? If he were able to be a consistent contributor, yes. But the current receiver corps has shown a lot for the Aggies through spring, and the coaching staff looks comfortable with what they've got.
That confidence by A&M fans in their team going forward allows them to have a well-deserved chuckle at this backtrack by Tech fans. At least we got this much out of the Micah Hudson experience.
