Do Texas A&M fans want to see Ohio State or Notre Dame win the national championship?

Without an SEC dog in the fight, which of these blue-blood programs would Texas A&M football fans rather see win the national championship?

Would Texas A&M football fans rather see Notre Dame or Ohio State take home the national championship on Monday?

It's pretty much offseason mode right now for Texas A&M football fans. With the Aggies' season having concluded on December 27, the A&M faithful have turned their attention to the Aggies' excellent basketball team, looking forward to what should be a magical baseball season, and recruiting news.

While there's plenty of excitement to go around in all three of these arenas, there's still some unfinished business to pay attention to in the arena of college football. There are still yet two teams standing in the sport, and they are set to face off on Monday for a national title.

On the one side, you have the Ohio State Buckeyes, who faltered late in the season against Michigan to miss out on a chance at a Big 10 title. Since then, though, the Bucks have been on an absolute tear, absolutely dominating every team in their path.

On the other side, you have the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Marcus Freeman's squad has been steady all season after a loss early in the year to Northern Illinois, even after losing star CB Benjamin Morrison. Their defense could prove a difficult problem to solve for Will Howard and the Buckeyes.

In fact, there were some things exposed in Ohio State's previous game that the Irish could take advantage of well in this matchup. For my money, Notre Dame still has the best pass defense in the nation, and they'll be a tough unit for the uber-talented Ohio State receivers to face off against.

But the question at hand is which team Texas A&M fans would rather see win. For my part, I think I'd rather it be Notre Dame. I know the Domers have a reputation as one of the least likeable programs in the country, but Freeman has flipped that around to a great degree.

Also, just for narrative purposes, it makes your early-season loss look that much better, as well as adds some extra juice to the game that the Aggies will play up in South Bend early next year. The Aggies facing off against the reigning national champions will give A&M a chance to impress that much more when they face the Irish in early September.
