Texas A&M fans just got the commitment they've been hoping for as Mark Matthews has announced his verbal pledge to the Aggies after a long and hard-fought recruitment. With the announcement earlier this week that Matthews would be committing on Friday, this has been a moment that Aggie fans have been waiting for on pins and needles.

Anxious to see which hat Matthews would pick from his finalists of Georgia, Miami, and Texas A&M, Aggie fans were all tuned into the live stream to see how this would play out. Well, if they were looking for a show, they just got one in a big way.

The eventual choice of the Aggies was one thing, as that is enough to get Texas A&M fans excited about this pickup. But the way that the man did it was one of the most exciting things that fans will see out of these kinds of events.

After several fake outs, Matthews took off his sweatshirt to reveal a custom Texas A&M jersey that he had on underneath the entire time, showing that this has been in the works for a while— and displayed the energy and passion that will make him such a huge piece of the offensive line for the Aggies for years to come, shouting, dancing around in a cowboy hat, and yelling "Elko era!"

You can see the full thing at about the 4:52 mark in the video below, or by clicking on this link.

Here's what Matthews had to say about why Texas A&M was the choice:

"I mean, it just feels like home away from home. The coaching staff, the O-Line staff, just everything... [Elko] just knows what he's doing. He went to an SEC program and built it up from the bottom, and I just believe in coach Elko."

That goes to show just how great of a job this staff has done in building these relationships and marketing the rise of this program under Mike Elko. The culture transformation that he's pulled off in College Station and the way that he has them on an upward trajectory is clear and obvious to everyone in the nation (maybe outside of Austin, but they have their own impediments there), and it's leading to big time pickups like this.

Matthews joins a massive offensive line haul that includes another five-star in Kennedy Brown, as well as DeMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Scott. The Aggies are also in on five-stars Albert Simien and Ismael Camara, as well.

Matthews will be the linchpin of a massive group along the offensive line going forward. This is the kind of tackle that programs around the nation are shelling out for in the transfer portal, and a player that everyone in the nation was trying to get. Mike Elko came out on top once again, and he landed a player who will not only be electric on the field, but will clearly bring the energy every single day. Texas A&M fans— we've got a great one.
