ESPN makes a complete 180 turn on Marcel Reed after brutal offseason disrespect

No surprise here.

Other than some overthrown balls, Marcel Reed has not disappointed one bit this season, and it's time the college football world has realized that.

Back in the summer, Reed was heavily underlooked, and the disrespect got way out of hand. Reed is now playing far better than anticipated, and making some in the media look foolish for defying the supposed odds that he faced— and now, his name is being chanted in every corner of the nation.

Now, ESPN has reranked all Power 4 quarterbacks. They have Reed just outside the top 10, but it shows how the media was completely wrong about him over the summer.

ESPN ranks Marcel Reed as the No. 12 Power 4 quarterback

We can all agree to disagree about the list. For instance, they have Georgia's Gunner Stockton, Notre Dame's CJ Carr and Cincinnati's Brendan Sorsby ahead of Reed. This is probably what I disagree with most, but Reed being up here at 12 means he is elite.

Diego Pavia, Fernando Mendoza and Julian Sayin are up top on the list. Sayin has had the best receiver in the world this season, and it's really helping him out there.

Here's how ESPN describes Reed:

"Reed pilots a beautifully spaced offense, with transfers KC Concepcion and Mario Craver frequently stretching defenses horizontally and tight ends Theo Melin Öhrström and Nate Boerkircher open over the middle if opponents overcompensate. A&M ranks just 89th in success rate on passing downs, but since he never allows the Aggies to actually fall off schedule, that hasn't been much of an issue."
Bill Connelly

The A&M passing attack is liable to open up at any point. With weapons all over the field, defenses don't even feel like double-teaming. KC Concepcion and Mario Craver are some of the best receivers in the country, and can outrun anybody out there.

The offensive line has been the main source for Reed to stay protected in the pocket. More importantly, it's a big part of why Reed is healthy.

Reed is one of the best in the country, and it's nice to see ESPN recognizing that in their two-month update.
