This was another big green flag for Aggie fans. After years without a designated special teams coach, the Aggies made this hire, which overjoyed A&M fans.

The A&M ST unit has been pretty solid, if unspectacular, so far this season. The punts have been maybe the best part, including a beauty last weekend by Tyler White. The field position game, which falls under this third phase, has been a definite plus for A&M.

The field goal kicking has been about what you've expected from Randy Bond—just fine, but nothing special. It hasn't hurt the Aggies yet, which is a plus, but it is an area of concern compared to when you had guys like Daniel LaCamera or even Seth Small out there.

The return game hasn't been flashy, but they've made smart decisions. Terry Bussey has continually made the right read when he's been back to return both punts and kickoffs; though he hasn't yet broken one, he's done what he needs to do every single time.

There's room for improvement here, but it hasn't been a minus at all. The Aggie special teams unit has been decent so far this year.
