Five bold predictions for Texas A&M vs. Utah State: A&M will lock in on defense
Texas A&M is getting ready for their final tune up game of the year as they welcome in the Utah State Aggies today. They are hoping to put on a dominant showing and get the starters out quickly as this A&M team and staff are already looking towards the contest against Notre Dame next week.
Even so, I think we still see quite a bit of dominance out of Texas A&M in this game today. Here are five bold predictions for what we could see out of Mike Elko's squad today.
Texas A&M defense generates two turnovers
There were zero turnovers in last week's contest, as both squads played a relatively clean game. I think Utah State is quite a bit shakier, however, and so I think this A&M defense can pressure them into some giveaways. Give me the Aggies recording two takeaways on the defensive side.
Utah State doesn't crack double digits
Utah State triumphed over UTEP with an uneven offensive showing at home last week, but they made it to the twenties in points. However, UTEP's defense is one of the worst in the country. The starters for A&M need to make a statement here, and we could see a shutout before the backups come in— even so, I'll hedge a bit, and say that Utah State may score, but not often.
Marcel Reed stays clean once again
Reed had a great game last week. Aside from the overthrow that missed KC Concepcion wide open in the end zone, he was on target, exemplified by his high completion percentage and yards per attempt. I think we see Reed have an even better game on a per-attempt basis, even if he doesn't throw as much, and not turn the ball over.
Ashton Bethel-Roman records touchdown
Last week functioned as an announcement to the world of just how good Mario Craver and KC Concepcion are for this Texas A&M passing attack, but ABR didn't quite have the same emergence. I think we see him break out in this game, recording at least one touchdown and showing fans that he's a force to be reckoned with as well.
A&M scores three times via ground game
After a lack of emphasis on the run game last week, I think A&M gets more physical in this one. Moss, Owens, Daniels, and Smith will make some noise against Utah State, and will combine for at least three scores.
