Five transfers to watch closely for Texas A&M's spring practice: Rickey Gibson

This is one that flew under the radar a little bit when the Aggies picked him up, but it shouldn't have. Gibson missed all of last season with a torn pectoral muscle after coming into the year heralded as one half of a lockdown corner duo with Jermod McCoy at Tennessee.

Of course, due to their respective injuries, neither player made much of an impact. Gibson was able to play in the first game, but that's where he got injured, and the rest is history.

Though McCoy— interestingly, a guy that Texas A&M almost landed in Mike Elko's first cycle as he transferred from Oregon State was higher-billed, Gibson had a claim to be the top corner for the Volunteers last season as well. He's a guy that the Vols really didn't want to lose, which should tell you just how highly Aggie fans ought to think of him.

I predict that he will slot in across from Dezz Ricks as a day-one starter in an Aggie uniform, giving Texas A&M even more of a lockdown defensive backfield than they had last season. The Ags were one of the best pass defenses in the conference last year— something that will help you win a lot of games in modern college football— and Gibson will help them make a run at that same designation in 2026.
