Texas A&M class of 2027 quarterback commit Jayce Johnson is set to visit Tallahassee in week one when the Florida State Seminoles host the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Commits visiting elsewhere, while not a sure sign of impending defection, is never a pleasant experience for fans, as the Texas A&M football faithful well know. Johnson was a big pickup in the rising junior cycle for the Aggies, who gained his commitment earlier this month over the Seminoles, but with so much time left between that verbal pledge and the time that he would actually put pen to paper, you had to expect something like this.

Regardless, it's not as though this is nothing for the Aggies. If Elko and company had their way, every commit would be locked in and not desiring to visit anywhere else, no doubt, so this is at the very least a less-than-ideal eventuality.

Should Texas A&M football fans be worried after star QB commit sets visit to Florida State?

Johnson is still only a member of the junior class, as I mentioned, so with his stature as a prospect, it would be tough to stop him from taking any visits at all before he signs. Florida State is very close geographically and they finished as the runner-up to the Aggies in this recruitment, so there's a lot that makes sense, even if it's not pleasant for A&M fans.

All that said, one thing the Aggie faithful can take solace in is that Alabama is most likely going to steamroll Florida State in this game, if last season is any indication. The Tide are a top contender for this year, while FSU still has a lot to figure out.

If that doesn't happen, though, this will be an extremely raucous and exciting home environment, so A&M fans need to cheer for 'Bama to finish their business early on in this one. Otherwise, things could get pretty shaky pretty quickly
