The former Texas A&M quarterback didn't look like he stood a chance to last on an NFL team, but after an outstanding performance in his last preseason game, it looks like things have drastically changed.
The month of July wasn't very good for former Texas A&M quarterback Kyle Allen, but the game fell on July 31, the only football game that fans could watch in the month of July. It was the Hall of Fame Game between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Chargers where the Lions (and especially Allen) didn't look too efficient. In that game, Allen was pretty much a dud, and basically an open target for fans to tear his head off online.
Now, the month of August has been extremely nice to Allen, and all of a sudden, Allen looks like a clear QB2 to Jared Goff.
Kyle Allen has answered all of his critics with tremendous bounce back
Kyle Allen's last three preseason games:

26-of-30, 310 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs.
This is exactly the answer that Allen needed, because if it was almost anything in the wrong direction like what we saw against the Chargers, there was no doubt that he would be cut. It looks like the former Texas A&M tight end and current Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is pretty much in a position to keep Allen on.
Allen has also overachieved to make a preseason hopeful look like an eventual star in Detroit. Former Arkansas Razorback Issac TeSlaa has been making noise this preseason, and thanks to Allen's comeback this preseason, Campbell says that TeSlaa will become a giant help in an already loaded offense with Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta.
It looks like Allen has shown a lot more than Hendon Hooker, and Allen's numbers for this August will show fans that Allen deserves to stay.
After writing about Allen in conclusion to the Hall of Fame Game, it seems like he knew that he had to get better quickly in order to stay on this roster, but now, it looks like he's a permanent stay for what would be his eighth season in the NFL.
