Texas A&M football sees three alumni receive huge paydays in NFL free agency
Texas A&M football hasn't been putting huge amounts of talent into the league over the last few years, but the ones who have made it in the NFL have, nearly to a man, been gems. Even the late-round picks have had a consistent track record of making noise at their landing spots once they get to their teams.
With NFL free agency beginning yesterday, several of these players have landed some pretty huge paydays. Talk about a huge marketing tool for the Texas A&M football staff!
The most notable, of course, is Myles Garrett. The former number one overall pick looked to be in a standstill with his team in the Cleveland Browns— understandably so— but he eventually agreed to ink a deal with the Browns to remain in Cleveland long-term.
That deal also made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, well outpacing the Maxx Crosby deal that was just signed. Garrett just reset the market in a huge way, furthering his prestige in the process.
Another big domino to fall was the move by former Steelers LT Dan Moore, a key piece on the amazing Aggie OL from the 2020 season, to the Tennessee Titans. Moore racked up a 4-year, $82mm deal with the Titans that demonstrated his value in this league in a big way. Not bad for a former fourth-round selection.
With that contract, Moore not only proves he has a place in the NFL, but he also locks up some long-term security. He has really exceeded expectations since coming into the league, and he's getting rewarded with this contract.
Bobby Brown III is another player on the move, joining Demani Richardson in Charlotte, NC. Brown is on what many would consider a team-friendly deal for the Panthers, but he's still making a big move to bet on himself here. I think we see this one pay off when the deal expires here in three years.
