Texas A&M football fans were not exactly surprised to see Shemar Stewart's name begin popping up all over NFL draft boards after his early declaration. Stewart is a guy that has been physically NFL-ready since high school, and that has already been translating into a lot of buzz from scouts.

He cuts the prototype for an NFL strongside defensive end. A stout defender against the run, Stewart doesn't have a huge amount of TFLs or sacks in his career, but you only need to watch the tape to see how rare his physical skillset is.

That skillset has been on full display this week during Senior Bowl practices, a venue teeming with NFL scouts. Stewart has already been the talk of the town down in Mobile— so much so that he and his agent clearly feel that he has proven all that he needs to.

Shemar Stewart reportedly pulling out of Senior Bowl after huge week of practice

According to Matt Miller, Stewart, along with a couple of other players, are expected to withdraw from the remainder of Senior Bowl practices.

As Miller mentions, Stewart has already checked the boxes he needs to in this process. His one on one dominance thus far in the week has been well-noted by scouts, and he is trending towards becoming an early first-round selection if everything continues apace.

This is an excellent, if expected, trajectory for a guy that was one of the highest-rated signees in Texas A&M football history. Though he didn't put up a lot of dominant numbers when at A&M, his impact on the game was evident every week, and he has been a key piece of this defensive line over the past three years.

Stewart's ability to stand up opposing offensive tackles, which he showcased with aplomb this entire week, and get off of blocks has caught scouts' attention in a major way. It's looking more and more likely that he'll be able to parlay this into being one of the first few names called on draft night— and be the first Aggie selected in the first round since Kenyon Green three years ago.
