Texas A&M has put a lot of star players into the NFL over the years— mostly on the defensive side, in recent memory— but one recent alumnus is really starting to make a name for himself in the league.
The Aggie faithful were extremely pleased with the progress of LB Edgerrin Cooper from 2022 to 2023, and he became one of the most important players on the team very quickly, if not the absolute most important. His speed, run-and-hit ability, and pass-rush prowess made him a valuable piece on the Aggie defense, and his draft stock shot through the roof that year as a result.
Now, Cooper is growing into one of the brightest young stars in the entire NFL. As a member of the Green Bay Packers' defense, now alongside Micah Parsons, Cooper is lighting things up in the pros, and he's starting to get recognized for it.

Out of all defenders in Week 1:
- 12 Tackles (4th)
- 8 Defensive Stops (2nd)
- 5 Defensive Stops in coverage (1st)
- 81.8 RTG when targeted

Cooper is quickly becoming an irreplaceable part of the Packers defense, demonstrated by the Packers' refusal to give him up as part of the aforementioned Micah Parsons trade. The Cowboys already were set to regret passing on Cooper, and now it must be even more bitter that he's not a part of their squad.
Edgerrin looks like he will continue apace and quickly ascend to the ranks of the all-pros before too long. He may not have the cache of a guy like Myles Garrett, but those who follow the league know this guy as one of the bright young defenders in the game— and his future is as big as it has ever been right about now.
Hopefully, Cooper keeps on keeping on up in Green Bay. He'll make a return trip to Texas for the game against the Cowboys here in week four, and I know a lot of Aggies in the crowd will be watching no. 56 closely to see the plays he makes.
