After Shemar Stewart and Walter Nolen were taken in the 2025 NFL Draft, it didn't take too much longer to hear Nic Scourton's name, as he was picked in 51st overall in the second round.

Scourton came into College Station from Purdue with huge potential to boom, as he was recognized for Second-team All-Big Ten with the Boilermakers. Even though he could've had an even better season, Scourton finished with First-team All-SEC honors in 2024.

In one list, Scourton was listed as a rookie sleeper who might do more than people think. The Panthers got the right guy, and with Carolina adding Bobby Brown III to their lineup, Scourton can help make noise to an already improved defense.

Bleacher Report has Scourton as a player who won't start but should

In Bleacher Report's article called 'NFL Rookies Who Won't Start in 2025 but Definitely Should,' Scourton makes the list for the Carolina Panthers.

Dame Parson mentions that Scourton's arm length to attack offensive tackles can be a driving force to him improving his minutes on the field. His improved quickness from the offseason has also been a storyline since before the draft.

This doesn't come as a surprise to Aggie fans, as they've seen Scourton's dedication off the field to better his body. He says he had lost between 20 to 25 pounds since he arrived in College Station. He entered in last season at 285 pounds, and to be an elite edge rusher in the NFL, being faster on the snap is the only option.

His body looked phenomenal at Pro Day, and showed why he can be an impact player in the NFL.

Scourton in the NFL at age 20 is already an accomplishment. He's going to have tons of time to improve and make a name for himself in this league.

Veteran Pro Bowl mentors like Jadeveon Clowney will be there to help Scourton through his growing pains, and with the Panthers going through their own growing pains being historically awful on defense last year, there's no choice but to go up from here.
