Texas A&M Maroon and White game analysis - Shone: The kickers
This was a welcome sight for many Texas A&M fans. Most of the scoring came from the legs of Asher Murray and David Olano, both of whom looked cool, calm, and collected throughout the afternoon.
Texas A&M’s kickers missed at least one field goal in 8 of their 13 games last year.

They were 16-for-26, and 61.5% was the second lowest team percentage among P4 teams.
Today, David Olano and Asher Murray were a combined 5-for-5.

After all of last year's woes at this position, Mike Elko made sure that he was going to go out and get some solutions to the issue— and he's done just that. Olano came in with impressive numbers, but it was true freshman Asher Murray who really caught a lot of eyes in this game.
He was the one who hit the 53-yarder in the midst of the windy day down on the field, and he did it like it was light work. Texas A&M's kicking unit was suffering from the yips in a big way last season, but Olano and Murray both were moving differently in this one.
Hopefully that confidence can continue this season and the kicking game can return to being a strength for the Aggies. If so, it will budge up Texas A&M's ceiling just that much higher for the 2026 season.
