Though there was apparently some initial optimism, Elko has announced that Texas A&M football will be missing a key piece for the rest of the year.

Texas A&M football loses Le'Veon Moss to injury; Star Aggie RB will be out for remainder of season

Texas A&M football's loss to South Carolina on Saturday is now looking as though it will be more costly than initially believed. The Aggies still have a lot of goals they can achieve this year, but the path to getting there just got a heck of a lot harder.

The Aggies were without star running back Le'Veon Moss for a good portion of this game after he went down with an injury in the first quarter. After the game, though, Mike Elko sounded as though there was some optimism that Moss may not have been as bad off as originally believed.

However, that optimism was apparently short-lived. In his presser today, Elko announced that Moss, who has been a huge part of the Aggie offense this year, is going to be out for the remainder of the season.

Moss has been maybe the best offensive player for the Aggies this season. No. 8 led the Aggies in combined rushing/receiving yards, sitting at 906 total for the year. Amari Daniels is second with 525.

It'll fall to Daniels to take the mantle of top back for these final few games. He's certainly no slouch as a runner himself, but it should go without saying that a Moss/Daniels combo is certainly superior to Daniels alone. EJ Smith has seen some spot duty this year, but it looks like he will have to step up to the plate some as well.

Terry Bussey will likely see some increased duties at RB as well, where he has been utilized sparingly this season. Elko alluded to that in another answer, but we'll have to see just how many snaps no. 2 gets.
