Texas A&M fans were excited to check out the initial availability report for this upcoming game against Mississippi State, as it was high time to see whether some of their injured players— Bryce Anderson and Scooby Williams— would be ready for this weekend's contest. Anderson was listed as "out" all of last week, while Williams ended up being a scratch on the day of the game.

The report, which came out last night, bore better information than many Aggie fans had dared to hope. The A&M faithful had hoped to see a positive update on Scooby, who they could really use this week, but it was the inclusion of Anderson that really lifted spirits.

If you don't recall, Anderson had to be stretchered off the field and taken to a hospital up in South Bend after a scary hit late in the first half. It all but seemed certain that his season was over and done with, but a positive update from Mike Elko gave A&M fans hope that he could be back soon— I'm not sure anyone anticipated a return this soon, however.

Injury report for Texas A&M is nothing but positives on Scooby Williams and Bryce Anderson fronts

Of course, no return is guaranteed— "questionable" basically means there's about a 50% chance that we see him on the field this Saturday. If I had to guess, I'd think he is not out there on Saturday, but this still symbolizes a lot more progress than many had hoped to see in Anderson's case.

Williams's status is encouraging as well, of course. Given that he was essentially a game-time decision last week, I think we could see him in this one— even if not, though, he has a capable backup in Daymion Sanford.

Even down these two starters, the Aggie defense played a near-perfect game this past Saturday, so I think we see a high-level performance no matter what. With both of them back and the entire unit healthy, though, the ceiling on this defense is exciting to consider.

Here's hoping both no. 0 and no. 1 are back out on the gridiron this Saturday!
