Scooby Williams just made a game-changing play for Texas A&M football when he intercepted CJ Carr at midfield before the half, but now fans are holding their breath for his status.
Williams appeared overjoyed after recording the first takeaway of the year for the Aggies, but it looks like something may have happened on the play or in the immediate aftermath that wasn't so good. Scooby was seen heading into the injury tent not long after the Aggies took the field on offense, and after the two-minute timeout, he was seen heading to the locker room.
No. 0 for the Aggies has made some big plays so far, and is a key cog in the middle of the A&M defense. He's been a little up and down overall in this game, as he completely busted a coverage that sprung Jeremiyah Love for an easy touchdown late in the second quarter.
Injury update: Scooby Williams heads to locker room after recording interception vs Notre Dame
Hopefully, this is just precautionary and Williams was just getting a head start on some treatment at halftime after tweaking something. There is no word yet on whether he'll be able to return to the game.
Williams is one of the most athletic players on the Aggie defense. A transfer from Florida, he brought a reputation for speed, toughness, and heavy hits to this A&M program.
He's also one of the toughest players on this team. It was revealed recently that Williams played the entirety of last season after tearing his meniscus in the first game against Notre Dame last year.
There's a chance this team could still get him back after half time. We'll stay on top of this story with updates as soon as they come in— hopefully, we see no. 0 back out there flying around after halftime.
UPDATE: Scooby Williams was described as "available but doubtful" for the Aggies after halftime.
