Texas A&M is rocking LSU's world right now in Death Valley, having just scored to go up 35-18 on the Tigers. The most recent score was a screen pass caught by true freshman running back Jamarion Morrow, which he took to the house against the vaunted LSU defense— but the reason that he was out there was not something that will make Aggie fans smile.
One play before, the starter for Texas A&M at running back, Rueben Owens, hopped off the field without putting any weight on his leg. Owens is starting for the already-injured Le'Veon Moss after Moss went down against Florida with an injury that will keep him out until late in the regular season at least.
Of course, it helps that the Aggies scored on the very next play to give them an even larger lead, and letting Owens take some time in the tent. Texas A&M has a lot of depth at running back this year, but if this takes out the second of their top two options, they could be in trouble.
Injury update: Rueben Owens leaves game with obvious limp against LSU
On the ensuing drive, the Aggies had Jamarion Morrow and Amari Daniels enter the game at running back, and there was still no update on Owens. That could simply be precautionary, as Morrow obviously has earned a lot of snaps and Daniels is a regular part of the rotation, but there are still some worries out there.
Owens is the back with the best pedigree among the crew, as he was a five-star coming out of high school. He missed all of last year save for the last two games with a lower-body injury suffered in fall camp.
The broadcast has yet to make a mention of any comment by Mike Elko on Owens's status at this point, but if any comment is made, this article will be update. Hopefully, Owens is just fine and is simply resting as the Aggies continue to roll.
