Texas A&M just started this game against Kentucky in the worst way possible. Do-it-all offensive weapon Terry Bussey took the opening kickoff against the Wildcats and only gained about 15 yards before he was tackled, an eventuality that looked to give the Aggies some pretty bad field position— but then it got even worse when it was revealed that a fumble happened that Kentucky recovered.
It got somehow even worse in the following moments, though, when Bussey didn’t get up off the field. A&M fans were hoping that it would be only a small injury and he would be able to return quickly, but then the cart came out for Bussey, with the ESPN sideline reporter saying that he was unable to put any pressure on his right leg.
Bussey has had a few injuries in his time in College Station, but he’s been pretty durable through his first two seasons. Aggie fans have high hopes for him and have ever since he came in as a five-star, but this puts a real damper on things.

Bussey has been one of the most effective offensive weapons for the Aggies so far this year after a breakout fall camp. He’s already made a lot of eye-catching plays so far in the year, so this is a real gut punch for Texas A&M.
As the broadcast mentioned, this compounds a current issue for the Aggies, as they are without one of their top receivers already with Ashton Bethel-Roman out for this game. A&M has a very deep receiver room, but that depth is already getting tested in a huge way early on in this season.
This means that the Aggies are going to have to turn to guys like TK Norman, Kelshaun Johnson, and Aaron Gregory to make up for the production you’re losing from Bussey. It also means that a guy like KJ Edwards will get a chance as kick returner, which Bussey has been since the day he stepped on campus.
