Texas A&M football has a chance to bring in the nation's top-ranked recruiting class this cycle for the second time in five years thanks to the work that Mike Elko and his staff have been putting in over the course of the past few years since getting to Colleg eStation.
That kind of thing doesn't happen, though, without the already-committed players doing what they can to bring in some of the top targets that have yet to make an announcement. Every class needs a pied piper, and it looks like Texas A&M quarterback commit Jayce Johnson is doing his part to play that role for the Aggies.
In a recent interview with Aggie Huddle, Johnson spoke to Landyn Rosow and opened up about some of the big names he's putting the full-court press on to commit to the Aggies. If he's able to make some headway with these names, it will be all but a foregone conclusion for Texas A&M football to end the cycle with the top-ranked class.

Johnson is putting it all out there with this group— he's clearly got some big plans for what this class could eventually look like.

“Some players I’ve been recruiting for the ’27 class are Eric McFarland, Mark Matthews, Kaden Henderson, Jaiden Bryant, and Briceson Thrower.” 🤠

Eric McFarland is a five-star receiver who has been high on the Aggies for some time now. It also helps that one of his teammates from IMG Academy is Zyron Forstall, who is already committed to Texas A&M.
Kaden Henderson is another player who has been giving the Aggies a long look, but the Ags are in a battle there with some big names around the country. The five-star linebacker has been predicted to land with Texas A&M, however.
Jaiden Bryant was big on the Aggies for quite some time, but ended up committing to LSU. However, the word is that he's remained open to Texas A&M's pitches, so that door may still be cracked.
Briceson Thrower is a receiver who has not gotten the national accolades that some of these other players have— everyone else on the list is a five-star, and Thrower is a three-star— but just take a look at his tape. He's a clear candidate for one of the most underrated prospects nationwide, and Johnson, as a quarterback, understands his skillset.
Adding these players would go a long way towards cementing the Ags as one of the best classes in the nation this cycle. Whether or not they land all four, though, Mike Elko has laid the groundwork for A&M to finish there anyway— and one of the top names in the class clearly has bought into that vision.
