Superstar Texas A&M receiver KC Concepcion has declared for the NFL Draft following the conclusion to the Aggies' season this past weekend. This was an expected development in the minds of most Aggie fans, as the subtext to Concepcion joining the Aggies from NC State this past offseason was always that he would be present for this season before heading to the league.

Ahead of the game against Miami, Concepcion said that he had not yet made a decision on his future, but this still doesn't come as a shock to Aggie fans. KC is likely to be a very high draft selection after a massive season in College Station— one which saw him earn consensus all-American honors in the Maroon and White and raise his draft profile to that of a probable first-round selection.

Aggie fans everywhere will follow KC's draft journey very carefully, of course, as he was one of the most exciting and dynamic players on this year's squad to watch— but it also leaves the Aggies with one imperative hanging in the air this offseason.

Texas A&M must find a way to replace Concepcion's production this offseason

Though the Aggies will be bringing back another explosive, big-play threat in Mario Craver this upcoming season, they must find a way to replace the production that Concepcion brought.

That will be no small feat, of course. KC was maybe the most impactful receiver in the portal this last cycle, so even though there are many players already in the transfer ranks who matched or exceeded his numbers last season (like Danny Scudero of San Jose State), nothing is going to be a sure thing.

With a change in offensive coordinator in Aggieland, an upset of the previous continuity could make this difficult— however, it should be said that the new OC for the Aggies, Holmon Wiggins, is one of the top receivers coaches in the nation. Whether this production comes from a high school recruit (such as Jerome Myles) or from the transfer ranks, the Aggies need to make this happen in order to not fall off in the 2026 season.
