Texas A&M is tied with LSU 7-7 early in the first quarter, but the Aggies struck first thanks to the pass rush of Cashius Howell and the legs of Marcel Reed. The Heisman-contending quarterback for Texas A&M is facing the best defense he's yet seen this year, and he's delivering pretty early on in this one.
The Aggies got the ball back quickly after Cashius Howell had a quick second-down sack against Garrett Nussmeier that put the Tigers way behind the chains. Then, the Aggie offense moved like lightning down the field, capping the drive off with this 41-yard scamper by Marcel Reed:

With the Heisman buzz around Marcel coming into this game, thanks in no small part to the Aggies' undefeated status thus far this season, this could be the kind of moment that launches his candidacy into the stratosphere. He'll need to keep this level of play coming, but this is exactly the kind of play that grabs the eyes of people around the country.
Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed shows off why he's a Heisman contender on first drive against LSU
It's not just the decision to pull the ball down and run that's impressive. It's all the moves in the open field. He evades several defenders and extends over the goal line, barely getting the ball across the line to gain before he goes down.
This exemplifies the confidence that Marcel has been increasing in over the course of this entire year. It's part of why he's the man that so many Aggie fans are placing their faith in as the Ags attempt to come into Baton Rouge, a place they haven't won in since 1994, and stay unblemished.
This will no doubt be a dogfight tonight for the Aggies, but if Marcel can keep at this level of play throughout, he will be guiding the Ags with a steady hand until they return to College Station with a win. That's a big if, but signs are positive early on.
