Texas A&M is riding high at 11-0 thanks in large part to the efforts of their Heisman-contending quarterback Marcel Reed and an extremely potent offense. With only one game left on the schedule— the Lone Star Showdown against the Texas Longhorns— Texas A&M fans are anticipating that success continuing against what suddenly looks like a very shaky defense.
It looks like the fans of the school down in Austin may actually be sharing that sentiment, as surprising as that may be. After getting shredded by the Arkansas Razorbacks at home on Saturday, the defense for the Longhorns is losing confidence by the day.
Making light of Marcel Reed has been a common practice this year for Texas fans, but even they are beginning to show signs of significant worry about what the Aggies' signal caller may be able to do to the Longhorns. Ahead of Texas A&M's trip to Austin, Reed is already striking fear into the hearts of Texas fans.
Marcel Reed and Texas A&M already filling Texas fans with worry and trepidation
Late Saturday night, after the Longhorns' game against Arkansas, posts about Reed had already begun to pop up all over social media. Here's just one example of a Longhorn already hedging his bets about what Reed is about to do to this Texas defense:
From what I have been told by someone who knows Marcel Reed...he HATES Texas. Reed would love nothing more than to beat the Longhorns on their own field.

He's going to be dialed in for this game, Horns need to come correct.
Whether this is true or not, it's definitely the case that the Longhorns had better play their best defensive game of the year if they hope to have a prayer of sticking with the Aggies in the fourth quarter. Texas A&M is now the second-best offense in the country per the SP+ ratings, by far the best offense that the Longhorns have faced all year.
Texas likes to style themselves as everyone's Super Bowl, and while it may be the most true in this rivalry game— since those are always big games— that's actually filling a lot of Texas fans with some dread.
Make no mistake… Reed and the Aggies have been building for this moment.

Texas will have to play its absolute best game in Sarks era if they want to beat the Aggies. https://t.co/W8uIMkyMyA
The comparison to Taylen Green doesn't make much sense at all— they're completely different types of quarterback, even though both are mobile— but what the quote tweet gets right is that the Longhorns only have a hope of winning if they play the best game of these last five years.
Texas A&M and Marcel Reed are an absolute force rolling into town this week. They're a more proven team than anyone else that the Longhorns have yet faced— and the reality of that is beginning to sink in.
