Following Marcel Reed being watchlisted for the Manning Award, it seems he's getting love from his own teammates, too.

Reed's coaches and teammates have boasted all about their first-string quarterback this offseason, praising Reed's progression for improving his passing. Fans have been concerned about Reed's passing abilities, but if Collin Klein and Reed's teammates aren't bluffing, this could end up becoming a breakout season for Reed. His safety, Bryce Anderson already has him going all the way at the top at the end of the season.

Anderson put his quarterback's name in the pot for the most prestigious award there is in college football. Some opposing SEC fans might think what Anderson said is a nothing-burger, but it goes to show the respect that Reed is getting is for real.

Bryce Anderson says Marcel Reed is Heisman material

"Heisman runner, that's what I feel like for Marcel. He's developed his passing game, running game. His throws are coming out a lot faster."

This is what confident Texas A&M fans have always thought about Reed's game. If he's able to combine his natural running style with improving his accuracy, the sky is the limit for Reed.

Putting a name into the Heisman pot should be taken seriously, but it seems the hype being thrown into Texas A&M looks like it's starting to come together. Anderson isn't just saying what he said for the media to throw in more Kool-Aid, but it looks like Anderson actually believes what he's saying about his QB1.

We keep coming back to it, but Reed's resume for any kind of Heisman trophy will be tested early in South Bend against Notre Dame. If he's able to contribute to a victory in a tough environment, it could set the rest of the tone for the Ags to do something special this season.
