Texas A&M fans everywhere were on the edges of their respective seats when Marcel Reed went down with an injury in the second half against Utah State today.

Reed wouldn't play another snap in the game, and backup Miles O'Neill came in to take up the mantle against USU. However, the updates since that point for Reed's status going forward have all been positive, which is great considering that the Ags have Notre Dame next week.

Joining that chorus of encouragement is Reed's father, Rod, who chimed in on X with these two words:

It looks like Texas A&M football fans will have an easier week ahead of them than some were anticipating when Reed headed to the injury tent. The Aggie faithful are far too used to dealing with quarterback injuries in College Station, and several times they've had to worry as the week goes on about figuring out about who may or may not be under center in the upcoming game.

Marcel Reed's dad gives simple yet encouraging update on social media: "He good"

Marcel and company have a huge game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish next week, where no. 10 in maroon and white will have to be at the top of his game. He will be facing an extremely fast and skilled Notre Dame defense in what will be a very physical game, so having him available is paramount.

This won't do anything to help the circling questions that A&M fans have had for a while now, though, about Reed's health relative to his play style. He's a dynamic runner and can tear teams up on the ground, but there's a question about how well he can hold up against a season's worth of hits in the SEC.

He's good at being elusive when he needs to be, but Reed may need to begin sliding a little more quickly than he currently does. The Aggies need him healthy more than anything.

Next week will be his biggest test yet as a passer. A&M needs him to show up in a big way both through the air and on the ground if they are to overcome the top-10 Fighting Irish.
