Marcel Reed's performance against the top-10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the road this past Saturday showed a lot of people around the country just how good he actually is.

It wasn't so much about the efficiency for Marcel against the Irish as it was showing up in big time moments and persevering through adversity. Reed was facing one of the best defenses in the entire nation, especially in the secondary, but he was cool, calm, and collected against them.

There were times where Reed missed on downfield throws, but he was clearly unafraid to push the ball deep against the Irish, and it paid off time after time. Things could have been even better than they were in this game on the final stat sheet, but it was still good enough to start Marcel's Heisman hype in a huge way.

Marcel Reed receiving Heisman hype in spades after huge game against Notre Dame

Reed is now third in passing yardage in the SEC after three games, including a few where he sat out the majority of the fourth quarter.

He received some adulation from reporters like Aaron Torres, who called him the "most underrated player in college football" after what he pulled off in South Bend.

Robert Griffin III chimed in as well, giving Marcel huge props for bringing A&M to victory in a really tough environment:

It's not just RG3 that's putting Reed on Heisman notice, either. He's become a popular name in those discussions after seeing what he was able to accomplish after some of the most elite corners in the country:

This could springboard him to the forefront of these discussions going forward. It's hard to overstate just how big this was for the program and Reed himself as far as visibility and public perception.

Could Marcel end up in New York? It's possible, but he'll have to put together some more big time performances in road venues even more intimidating. It's early, but he's got the attention of the nation with what he did against the Irish.
