Marcel Reed's latest honor shows that his rise up Heisman lists is warranted

The Aggie signal caller could be given the most prestigious individual award possible by season's end.

The offense up in Fayetteville for Texas A&M football is obviously what won them that game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, given that the Aggie defense had an uncharacteristically bad day against Taylen Green and the Hogs. The man most directly responsible for that, of course, is the one behind center: Marcel Reed.

For his outstanding performance against the Razorbacks— one that should have included a 57-yard rushing touchdown that got called back at the end of the game due to the least egregious holding penalty you've ever seen— Reed has been honored as the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week.

Reed racked up 280 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air, as well as 61 rushing yards and another score on the ground. He's become much more judicious in choosing when to run the ball as opposed to passing it, and it's behooved him greatly so far in the year— and as a matter of fact, his growth is leading him to continue to rise up Heisman lists as the year goes on.

Marcel Reed racks up another honor as Heisman candidacy steadily gains steam

Reed came in fourth in the latest Heisman poll from On3, which they released yesterday:

This is a big time move for Texas A&M's signal caller, who has really only had national eyes on him in a big game once so far this season. He's had the numbers to back up these sorts of accolades, of course, but he will once more when the Aggies head to Baton Rouge this Saturday.

If Reed can ball out once more against this LSU defense like he has in the past few weeks, then this will be a real turning point for his Heisman candidacy. There's still a lot of respect around the nation for Blake Baker's unit, especially when it comes to shutting down passing attacks, so if Reed were to handle them, it would mean a lot.

It should be noted that Reed's best game, by far, sitting in the pocket and delivering the ball accurately was this most recent one. His deep ball accuracy was on point all day, which will make this offense truly unstoppable if it continues.
