Marcel Reed just led Texas A&M football to a massive victory over the LSU Tigers in Death Valley, slinging and running the rock all over the vaunted Tiger defense to lead A&M to 42 offensive points. That's not even counting the punt return touchdown by KC Concepcion that turned the lights out in Death Valley, either.

The commentators for the game, Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler, couldn't stop talking about the level of intensity that the Aggies were playing with for this game. This A&M team was clearly playing with a focus and determination that we have hardly ever seen out of them, and Reed in his postgame interview may have let slip why.

One of the subtle storylines headed into this game was Texas A&M strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt returning to Death Valley for his first time since Brian Kelly fired him. You could tell from the pregame buildup that this meant a lot to him in particular, and the score he had to settle clearly spread throughout this team.

Marcel Reed mentions Brian Kelly tackling dummy in practice, showing just how personal this LSU game was

In his postgame availability, Reed mentioned that Tommy Moffitt took an unprecedented step in order to motivate the team:

That's completely out of pocket, but it's completely Tommy Moffitt. He's just the right mix of controlled, intense, and crazy that you want in your strength coach, and he had this team as ready as it has ever been in order to take this game home tonight.

They did just that against the Tigers, playing with an edge that we haven't seen out of this group in some time. For whatever you can say about this tactic from Moffitt, it clearly worked as part of his mad plan, and this team responded in a big way.

This team continues to come together in an amazing way. Texas A&M enters their second bye still undefeated, with maybe their biggest hurdle yet now conquered— and from here, the sky is the limit for this team.
