Mario Craver has only played one game so far for Texas A&M football, but his impact is already making noise around the country.
The transfer receiver from Mississippi State was seen as a big pickup by the Aggies in the portal, but given the commitment of KC Concepcion and the hullabaloo surrounding Micah Hudson, he was a bit of a forgotten man in that triumvirate. One game into the 2025 season, though, and Aggie fans are beginning to wake up to just how important his addition was.
Craver set a record for receiving yardage in an Aggie debut, surpassing the A&M legend Christian Kirk's output against Arizona State back in 2015. Add his two touchdown catches— both of which were screen passes that he turned into explosive plays— and you've got something that has a lot of Aggie fans excited.
It's not just Aggie fans, though— Craver's performance has some predicting he will be one of the nation's best-known players by season's end.
CBS Sports' Cooper Petagna predicts Texas A&M WR Mario Craver will be 'household name' by season's end
Cooper Petagna of CBS Sports, a national college football reporter, put this out about Mario Craver after seeing his performance against UTSA:
Name that I fully expect to be a household name by the end of the season in college football...Mario Craver.
— Cooper Petagna (@cooperpetagna) September 4, 2025
It's not hard to see why he believes this. Craver's 8-catch, 122-yard, 2-touchdown performance was pretty eye-catching for anyone paying attention to the Aggies' contest against the Roadrunners.
Of course, UTSA is one of the worst defensive backfields that the Aggies will face this year. How Craver will match up against more intimidating groups, like that of Notre Dame in a couple of weeks, is a question that remains heavy on the minds of Aggie fans.
Regardless, though, the juice at receiver is clearly at a different level this year in College Station, and Craver is a huge part of that. If he can continue to up the quality of play at that spot throughout the year, things could get pretty fun for Aggie fans.
